I am a graduate of Cardinal Brennan High School and West Chester State College.  My certification is in Elementary/Special Education. Following graduation, I taught sixth and eighth grades at Holy Family School, Frackville.  Wanting to teach special education, I accepted a position in Learning Support and am privileged to have taught first in the Frackville Elementary Building and now in the Ashland Elementary Building.  I am looking forward to being a member of the staff of the new North Schuylkill Elementary School.

Classroom Rules

1.      Do things that will not stop me from teaching or you and others from learning.

2.      Respect yourself, others and your school.

These rules are simple and to the point.  They are reviewed and discussed on a regular basis so that the children understand and follow them.  Breaking these rules may result in warnings, time-outs, or loss of privileges.  Notes will be sent home for continuous and/or severe misbehavior, and the principal will also be notified.  We want our classroom to be a fun place where everyone can learn and feel comfortable.

We also follow the Elementary Missed Homework Policy.  A warning is given for the first two missed assignments; following the third missed assignment a detention will be issued.  All homework assignments are written in my students’ assignment books each day to help you to see that they are prepared for class.

Rewards

Rewards are given in the form of computer time, game time, story listening time, and small treats such as, pencils, stickers, and candy.  Positive reinforcement and encouragement are given on a daily basis by and to everyone in the classroom.

CURRICULUM

This year I am teaching reading and language arts to learning support students in grades three through six.  All students are being instructed following the same curriculum and using the same materials as all other students in the elementary school.  The reading/language arts books we use are Harcourt Collections.  The web site is listed below and can be used to help the students in these areas.

I also team teach with some of the third and fourth grade teachers with whom I share students.  Please see your child’s homeroom teacher’s web page for information on the subjects in which they are integrated.
