I am a native of Ashland and a graduate of this school district.

My teaching degree was earned from Millersville College, where I

graduated in 1976. I have been teaching art at this district since that time.

Basic objectives of the art department are:

-         Creating an environment in the classroom that will promote the child’s artistic interests and development.

-         Providing the child with experiences thru which he will be made more aware of art fundamentals such as color, form, space, and rhythm.

-         Developing in the child the ability to work as an individual as well as a member of a group.

-         Encouraging the child to experiment with various media and techniques.

-         Developing design consciousness within each child.

-         Appreciating sources of inspiration from nature.

-         The child will learn to appreciate various cultures by studying aesthetic works of art.

-         Encouraging the child’s growth in his ability to enjoy art through doing and appreciation.
