Hello everyone!  My name is Mary Lou Leibensperger.  I am the new autistic support teacher.  This is my first official year teaching but I was the special education day-to-day substitute last year.  I was in both the Frackville and Ashland buildings for a long term substitute position.  While in Ashland, I filled in for the previous autistic support teacher for approximately two months.  I have worked with all of the students that were in the autistic support room last year.

Before I began teaching, I was a therapeutic support staff worker.  I worked with children with autism and children with a variety of different needs. I worked in school districts other than North Schuylkill.

I have a bachelor’s of science degree in special education.  I graduated from Kutztown University.

I am married and have three boys.  I live in Orwigsburg with my husband, children, 2 dogs, and 2 cats.

If you need to e-mail me, my address is mleibensperger@northschuylkill.net.  Feel free to do so if you have any questions for me.

My classroom rules are fairly simple.  Respect for oneself along with everyone else is top priority.  Students can work for free time and may choose what they would like to do during this time.  As long as they do their work to the best of their ability, I feel they have more than earned this privilege.

If a student refuses to cooperate, a time out is given.  This allows the student time to refocus his or her energies on finishing the needed assignments.
