DIANE STURM

I am a graduate of North Schuylkill High School and am a lifelong resident of Frackville. I received my BS in Elementary Education and Library Education from Millersville University. I received my Masters in El. Education from Bloomsburg University. I recently received my certification in ESL from Penn State.

I have taught in the North Schuylkill School District for the past 34 years—25 in First Grade and 2 in Fourth Grade. For the past 7 years I have been teaching IST and ESL. This year I am in the Frackville, Ashland and Ringtown Buildings.

CLASSROOM RULES

Since I work with students in small groups or individually, my only rule is that each student strives to do the very best that they can do.

CURRICULUM

Since I work with each student on their own level following their IST plan, I use the student’s textbooks from their classes whenever possible.

The ESL material I use varies with the student’s English language level of proficiency. Each ELL is different and each is taught with their specific needs in mind.

I am in contact regularly with parents in order to assess their child’s progress in both the ESL and IST programs.
