Mrs. Beth Huntsinger

Title 1 Reading Teacher

Frackville Elementary

I am a graduate of Tri-Valley High School.  I completed my undergraduate studies at Bloomsburg State College in May 1983.  I received a Masters Degree in Reading from Bloomsburg University in May 1987.  For the past 23 years, I have been employed by the North Schuylkill School District.  Initially, I worked as a day-to-day substitute in the high school and all 4 elementary schools.  I was then hired permanently as a Title 1 Reading Specialist.  I have worked in the Ashland building as a permanent substitute, and I have also worked in the Girardville  and Ringtown buildings as a reading teacher.  Since September of 1993, I have been a reading teacher at the Frackville Elementary.

The Title 1 Reading program is a federally funded program that is designed to give remediation to students who are experiencing difficulties in reading.  This includes all areas, such as fluency, comprehension, word recognition and phonics.  Students are recommended for this program by their classroom teacher.  I am currently working with students in grades Kindergarten, first, second, and fourth.  In grades Kindergarten and fourth, I go in to the child’s classroom to team teach with their teacher.  For first and second grade, I work with a small group of children in my classroom.  We cover the same material that the classroom teacher covers, but we work in a small group where the children have more opportunities to practice reading and reading related skills.
