How the Behavior Management System in My Classroom Works

       1)  At the end of every day, I will evaluate your child’s day.  If your child has received 1 or no check marks next to their name, they will receive a happy face at the end of the day.  If your child has received 2 checkmarks, they will receive a straight face.  Finally, if your child has received 3 or more checkmarks, they will be given a sad face.  If a student has received 3 checkmarks, they will have lost any free time/center time for that day.  If the student has received 4, they will have lost recess for that day or the next (depending on when checks were given).  If a student has received more than 4, they will have lost all of the above and will be sent to the principal’s office.  Excellent will be checked on homework sheet if no checks were given.  Good will be checked if 1 check was given.  Fair will be checked if 2 checks were given.  Poor will be checked if 3 or more checks were given.

2)      At the end of the week, your child’s “Happy Face” paper will be evaluated.  If the child has 3 or more smiley faces for the week, the child may pick out a prize from the small prize bucket.  The child will also receive a star on the classroom chart for the week.  If the 3 smiley faces have not been marked, the child can try again for the following week.

3)      At the end of the each month, the classroom chart will be evaluated.  If your child has received at least 3 stars for the month (based on the weekly evaluation) the child may pick out of the larger prize box.  If the monthly prize has not been earned, the child still has the opportunity to receive the smaller, weekly prizes.

4) This system has a daily, weekly, and monthly positive reinforcement for good behavior.  This will help the children strive for good behavior by having a goal that is attainable to them.

5) The system will be modified for shorter school weeks and holidays or special occasions.
