           The Health Office staff is comprised of a Certified School Nurse who oversees the activities of all the elementary health offices and the Health Room Assistants.  There are 2 part time assistants and 1 full time assistant.  Mrs. Shuttlesworth rotates between all the elementary health offices.  Mrs. O’Hearn is the full time assistant and rotates between the Ringtown Elementary and the Frackville Elementary buildings.  Mrs. Simms and Mrs. Mikulski cover the Ashland Elementary and the Frackville Elementary buildings with Mrs. Simms providing services in the morning and Mrs. Mikulski providing the afternoon services.

           You can contact the nursing offices by dialing the building numbers and asking for the nursing office.  Below is the schedule of the nursing personnel should you need to speak with a specific individual.  Any issues that arise in any of the nursing offices should be directed to Mrs.Shuttlesworth, the certified school nurse, Mr. Yarger, the principal, or Mr. Jones, the assistant principal.

           The nursing offices provide the following mandated screenings:

                      Growth Screenings (height, weight, BMI for all grades)

                      *Hearing Screenings (kindergarten, grades 1, 2, and 3)

                      Vision Screenings (all grades)

                      Dental Screenings (grades 1 and 3)

                      Physical Exams (kindergarten and grade 6)


*The school nurse is required to screen these grades, but will provide a screening to children in other grades if a teacher or a parent requests it.

 

 

 

MEDICATIONS

           All medications brought to school must be in the original container, and accompanied by a note from the parent.  No medication will be administered without parental permission.  The following information must be included:

Name of the medication to be administered

Dose to be administered

Time to be administered

or

Frequency of doses to be administered

Doctor’s Note for medications needed for a long period of time
