NS Jr./Sr. Prom will be held at Genetti’s in Hazleton on May 5, 2012.  All students must be in compliance or sign up for the drug testing policy by February 17, 2012.  Any questions, regarding this matter, please see Mrs. Seip in the guidance office.

 

Attention ski club members:  the sheet to sign for the February 3rd ski trip is now available in the guidance office. There will be two buses.  See Mrs. Rex or Mrs. Leib if you have any questions.

Congratulations to Larissa Ressler and Blair Hetherington!  Both girls represented North Schuylkill Junior/Senior High School in this year’s Greater Pottsville Winter Carnival Snowflake Princess competition.  At the finals competition on Saturday evening, Blair was named 2012 Second Runner Up!  Great job ladies!!

 

Listen up West Side Story cast – rehearsal this evening will be held in the cafeteria.  Also, girls in the chorus should see Mr. Lucas sometime today.

 

Attention 10th graders – want to learn how to be a better citizen and complete your senior project?  The Civics in Action project will help to expand your academic understanding of civics and government and will look great on your college application and you get to meet local government leaders.  Interested students, please see Mr. Wartman as soon as possible.

 

GUIDANCE NEWS:

·       Congratulations to Bryon McMahon for taking 1st place in an auto competition at the vo-tech last week.  Good job Bryon.

·       Attention Seniors:  In order for your mid-year grades to be sent out to colleges and universities, you must complete a transcript request form in the guidance office.

SPORTS NEWS:

·       There will be a meeting Tuesday, January 31 for any student who plans to play Jr. High/Sr. High football next year.  The meeting will be held in the cafeteria at 2:35PM.

·       The JV and Varsity Boys Basketball team are at Panther Valley tonight.  JV begins at 6PM.

·       The Jr. High Boys Basketball team is at Jim Thorpe.  The 7th grade game begins at 6PM.

·       The Jr. High Wrestling team hosts Mt Carmel and Shamokin Area today.  The tri meet begins at 5PM.

·       The NS Swim team had an impressive performance at the Schuylkill Haven Invitational on Saturday.  Nick Every earned two 3rd place medals, Josh Molina earned a 2nd place medal, and the boys 400 freestyle relay of Brendan Shearn, Nick Evert, Matt Antanavage, and Josh Molina also earned 2nd place medals.  All swimmers had impressive results!  Congratulations and good luck tomorrow as you travel to Shamokin.
