Giving Away Old Uniforms!
Come one come all! Any current band members, alumni, or other interested parties who want a piece of nostalgia need to contact Mr. Gunnell before the Christmas Break about old marching band uniforms. All the old uni’s, hats, and the like will be discarded before 2009.
Pit Band for Guys & Dolls:
Mr. Lucas has announced the spring musical and the books have been ordered. We’re going for a no ringer pit this year if possible so come on out and sign up for the Pit Band. We still need woodwinds and brass. See Mr. Gunnell
2009 Schuylkill County Band:
Congratualtions to students who were accepted by audition for County Band back in November. The festival will be held this year at Tri Valley High School in March.
M-I-C K-E-Y M-O-U-S-E:
At the December 4th meeting the NS school board approved the Spartan Marching Band trip to Disney World, Orlando, FL in November 2009. See the Florida Trip page for details.
Drum Major Auditions:
The Spartan Marching Band will audition for a Drum Major again this spring. Hopefuls should speak personally with Mr. Gunnell early in January for information / consideration. The audition process will consist of the following: 2 page essay (“Why I’ll be the best choice for drum major in 2009”), conducting and score reading lessons, and a performance evaluation (G’ville parade). The role of Drum Major is open to any rising sophomore in band or guard.
Twin Valley Band:
Twin Valley Band (which is actually called Junior County Band now, FYI) is just around the corner. The festival will be held at Williams Valley this year and is open to 7th and 8th grade students interested. See Mr. Gunnell for details before January 16, 2009
