Melissa Lorady — Guidance Counselor

I am proud to be a part of the North Schuylkill School District community, where I have had the privilege of working since July 2011. Although I graduated high school from a neighboring district, Shenandoah Valley, in 2003, North Schuylkill has truly become a second home to me, and I am very proud to call myself a Spartan!

I earned my Bachelor’s degree in Human Services with a specialization in Substance Abuse Counseling from Cazenovia College, NY in 2007. I then continued my education at Kutztown University of Pennsylvania, where I earned my Master’s degree in Secondary School Counseling in 2011. Shortly after graduating, I began my career at North Schuylkill, and I have been fortunate enough to call the district home ever since.

Throughout my career, I have had the opportunity to work with countless students, families, teachers, and colleagues, and each experience has reinforced how much I value being part of a school community. As a school counselor, I am passionate about supporting students academically, socially and emotionally.

One of the most rewarding parts of my job is building relationships with students and being able to celebrate their successes, support them through difficult moments, and help them find their own path toward a successful future. I feel incredibly fortunate to work in a district where relationships matter and where there is such a strong sense of pride in our students and our community.

Outside of school, my two boys, Jax and Gino, are my world. Jax loves school and brings a genuine enthusiasm for learning, while Gino is our social butterfly who never seems to meet a stranger.

After more than a decade at North Schuylkill, I can honestly say that I have developed a deep love for this district and the people who make it so special. I have proudly embraced the Spartan spirit and I am grateful for the opportunity to continue serving our students, families, and school community and to be part of a place that I am proud to call home.
