Ed Tarantelli

North Schuylkill Wall of Fame — Inducted June 2025

Edward Tarantelli, a 1993 graduate of North Schuylkill High School, was active in football and wrestling during his school years. He continued his education at Delaware Valley College in Doylestown, Pennsylvania, where he earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Criminal Justice Administration in 1997. Later that year, he graduated from the Lackawanna College Act 120 Police Academy and became certified as a police officer. Mr. Tarantelli went on to serve in law enforcement for 24 years, including 20 years as Chief of Police for the Butler Township Police Department. Throughout his career, he also served in departments in Ashland, Frackville, Mahanoy City, and Orwigsburg. He spent a decade as a D.A.R.E. instructor in the North Schuylkill School District and was recognized as an expert witness in narcotics investigations by the Schuylkill County courts. He also held leadership roles in professional organizations, including serving as Recording Secretary for the local FOP North Schuylkill Lodge #25 and being an original member of the Schuylkill County Chiefs of Police Association.

In 2021, Edward Tarantelli was elected to serve as Magisterial District Judge for Court 21-2-01. His jurisdiction covers all Schuylkill County municipalities within the North Schuylkill School District, as well as the Borough of Ashland.

Mr. Tarantelli has been a dedicated coach with the North Schuylkill Wrestling program since 2012. He was named the 2013 District XI AA Junior High Coach of the Year and has served as an assistant varsity coach, contributing to the program's continued success.
