Lt. Colonel Scott C. Price

North Schuylkill Wall of Fame — Inducted June 2021

Lt. Colonel Price is a graduate of North Schuylkill and Penn State with a Bachelor of Science in Chemistry. After college, he pursued graduate studies at Milton S. Hershey Medical Center and Penn State before accepting an industrial chemist position with Atochem, Inc.

While working as a chemist, he pursued his calling to attend the Pennsylvania State Police Cadet Academy and was appointed to the 70th Cadet Class in January 1988. Assigned to a Patrol Unit and with additional training with the United States Park Police, he was one of a small group of troopers assigned to a motorcycle patrol, re-establishing the program which persists today. He transitioned to criminal investigations and forensic services and received numerous accolades, including a Commissioner's Commendation for exceptional investigative effort in solving a high-profile bank robbery in Girardville.

Later he was promoted to Corporal and became a member of the Special Emergency Response Team (SERT) as a hostage negotiator, and served as a firearms instructor and tactics trainer.

He served throughout eastern Pennsylvania as a Sergeant and Lieutenant in varied assignments. As a Captain, he was assigned as Division Director of the Bureau of Records and Identification. He was bestowed with the Commonwealth "Excellence in Technology" award as a result of oversight of several initiatives, including development of an interface between the PA Access to Criminal History (PATCH) database and the Department of Human Services PALS application.

In 2018, he was appointed as Acting Deputy Commissioner of Administration and Professional Responsibility, a Deputy Cabinet Secretary position in the Wolf Administration. The appointment became permanent with promotion to the rank of Lieutenant Colonel in 2019. In January 2020, he was assigned as the Deputy Commissioner of Operations with oversight of all field personnel; the Bureau of Emergency and Special Operations; Bureau of Criminal Investigations; Bureau of Patrol; Bureau of Gaming Enforcement; Bureau of Liquor Control Enforcement; and Executive Services Detail.

He currently serves on various committees including the National Institute of Justice Special Technical Committee and the Pennsylvania Commission on Crime and Delinquency Criminal Justice Advisory Committee. He remains a resident of Schuylkill County with his wife Shelley and son Nickolas, who is also a North Schuylkill graduate and serves as a Pennsylvania State Trooper.
